John Whippy Foundation Announces 2026 Charity Walk from Rye to Hastings
The John Whippy Foundation has announced its annual charity walk, taking place on Saturday 9 May 2026, with participants undertaking a 12-mile walk from Rye to Hastings in support of the Children Respite Trust.
The walk will begin at Rye Railway Station, following a scenic countryside route past Winchelsea and along the Sussex coastline, before going over the hill at Fairlight and finishing in Hastings at Porter’s Wine Bar. The route offers stunning views and a rewarding challenge for walkers of all abilities.
The event is being held to raise vital funds for the Children Respite Trust, which provides respite care for children with disabilities and essential support for their families. More information about the charity can be found on their website: https://www.crtcharity.org/
Participants will meet at Eastbourne Railway Station at 8:30 AM to catch the 8:50 AM train to Rye (final train confirmation to follow), arriving at approximately 9:50 AM. The walk will commence at 10:00 AM, allowing time for walkers joining in Rye to arrive.
The walk is expected to take around five hours, including a 30-minute break at the halfway point, with an estimated finish time in Hastings between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Food and refreshments will be available at Porter’s Wine Bar following the walk.
There is a £10 entry fee to take part. Walkers are also encouraged to set up their own fundraising pages via the Foundation’s JustGiving campaign, with 100% of funds raised going directly to the Children Respite Trust to support sick, disadvantaged, and disabled children.
Anyone wishing to take part should contact Robert at foundation@johnwhippy.co.uk or call 01323 410433 for further details on registration, payment, and fundraising setup.

The John Whippy Foundation thanks everyone for their generosity and support and looks forward to welcoming participants to the walk in May 2026.
