How to Protect Your Home Ahead of Storm Amy

Storm Amy is approaching and is expected to affect many areas across the United Kingdom.

To help you reduce the risk of damage to yourr properties, we’ve put together some practical tips:

  • Check fences and sheds for any loose panels that could be blown away and cause damage to their own or neighbouring properties.
  • Clear the garden of overhanging branches and unsecured garden furniture.
  • Inspect the roof for loose or cracked tiles or slates that might be lifted by strong winds.
  • Securely store bins and any garden furniture.
  • Make sure gutters and downpipes are firmly attached and that drains are free from debris.
  • Close and secure all windows and doors, including garage doors.
  • Remove or secure any outdoor ornaments, pots, or equipment that could become dangerous projectiles.
  • Keep torches, batteries, and emergency supplies handy in case of power cuts
  • Once the storm has finished, inspect the property to see if there is any resulting damage. If any resulting damage has occurred then contact us to report a claim to your insurer.
